J erry A. Donley is a native of Colorado having been born in 1930 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Beloit College in 1951, and received his J.D. in 1954 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1954 and served as deputy district attorney from 1957-1960. Currently Mr. Donley is serving as "of counsel" with the Donley Law, P.C.. He was an active trial attorney for over 40 years, with emphasis in insurance defense. Mr. Donley has also developed an extensive private practice, specializing in probate, estate planning, and entity formation. He has been recognized as one of the pre-eminent lawyers in the Pikes Peak region.
Mr. Donley is a member of the El Paso County, Colorado and American Bar Associations; the Colorado Springs Estate Planning Council; the Section of Real Property Probate and Trust Law. He has been admitted to practice in Colorado since 1954, and has been admitted to practice in the Federal District and Circuit Courts and the United States Supreme Court. He has been a member of the National Association of Estate Planners; and, was a designated panelist for the American Arbitration Association and National Association of Securities Dealers; a member of the Defense Lawyers Association of Colorado; a past member of the American Trial Lawyers Association; a representative of the El Paso County Bar to the Board of Governors - Colorado State Bar Association; and, a member of the Colorado State Bar Nominating Committee for 1998-1999. He is a designated panelist for the National Arbitration Forum.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Donley has been and remains very active in the Colorado Springs community, including, The First Presbyterian Church, Colorado Springs, CO, a past member of the Presbytery of Pueblo and of the General Council of Presbytery of Pueblo; a past president of the Mariner's Club; past president and board of directors Boys Club of Colorado Springs; past president and board of directors of the Colorado Springs Charter Association; board of directors of the Colorado Springs Kiwanis Club and Jaycees; and, past president and board of directors Pikes Peak Roadrunners.
Mr. Donley has also served as the Director of the Masters Track and Field Committee; he is the past National Chairman of the Masters Track and Field Committee of the USA Track and Field; and, he was a member of the Board of Directors and a past member of the Executive Committee of the USA Track and Field, and served as an arbitrator for its drug enforcement program. Mr. Donley was elected to the Masters Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1999 and is a certified master official in pole vault. In addition, he has been competing as a Masters athlete since 1974 as a pole vaulter, having participated in competitions around the world.
